The mailing list of the ECA-SIG#5 is a low traffic list mainly devoted to announcement of events and job openings of interest for the community of mineralogical crystallographers. Inquiries and requests of information and help are also welcome.
The web interface of the mailing list is here. Public archives are located here. New members can subscribe in two ways:

send a message to with SUB ecasig5 in the subject line

access the home page of the mailing list and enter a valid email address.
In both cases, a confirmation message is sent to the address requesting subscription. By replying to the confirmation message, the subscription request is sent to the list owner, who will approve it (approval step is taken to protect the list from spammers).
After subscribing, you will receive messages sent to the list by other members, and you can post messages to the list addressing them to
The reply address is automatically set to send replies to the original sender, not to the list (to avoid flloding the whole list with replies of interest for one person only). If you wish to reply to the whole list, hit the " reply to all " button in your mail program: you will see both the address and the address of the original poster. Delete the latter and send your message. Or you can reply via the archive page, where you can choose with a radio button whether to reply to the original sender or to the list.
If you access the home page of the list you can modify your settings (i.e. the frequency of delivery of the messages). To access the home page you need to login with your email address and the password you have received in the welcome message. If you need assistance, do not hesitate to write to the of the SIG.
Before 16 September 2002 the list was hosted at Yahoo! as a Yahoo Group. Privacy and administrative concerns forced us to move the list to its present location. The old group is frozen, but still accessible: you can read there the archive of older messages.
