The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is Canada's pre-eminent international museum and houses some of Canada's most important collections in both Natural History and World Cultures. The department houses Canada's largest mineral and gem collections, an important meteorite collection, and a comprehensive petrology collection.
The ROM currently invites applications for the position of an entry-level Associate Curator of Mineralogy to conduct field and collections-related research.

We expect an opening of a postdoc position in the "Theory of Minerals at Extreme Conditions" group at the Laboratory of Crystallography, ETH Zürich, starting approximately from June 2006.
We seek a highly motivated researcher, ideally with a good background in high-pressure physics and/or ab initio simulations. Additional experience with computational methods is an advantage. The length of appointment is 3 years (extension is possible), with starting salary around 75000 SFr (ca 60000 USD), depending on experience.

There is a high probability that a Full Professor position will be open next year (starting 09/2006) at the Université Joseph Fourier (Grenoble, France) in the field of Environmental Mineralogy.
The position will be opened in the Environmental Geochemistry group of the LGIT.
Actual applications will be made in the spring of 2006 but there is a preliminary and essential deadline of October 15, 2005.
